And Matt, thank you for your comments. No one is perfect.
One could argue, Aaron, that 'AK' is just as anonymous as any other username on here. I like that you singled me out though. Nice one.
Are Dunedin bands/musicians/writers really THAT worried about having some faceless entity 'slag' them off on the internet? Surely that's easier to take than someone heckling you at a show, or a bad review in a magazine. Both of which are reasonably likely to occur, if you want to achieve any sort of longevity and exposure.
New Zealand has a culture of tall poppies syndrome, we're forever helping each other up only to pull back down those who threaten to climb too high. The internet, for better or worse, just helps to facilitate this.
Personally, I've experienced all three types of criticism, both in music and writing, and can honestly say that I've appreciated it. Those who've seemed honest and genuine, or have made good points, I've taken on board, those who criticise less my writing or the music brains make, and more us as people (kind of absurd in its own right, as this kind of criticism has never come from anyone I'd term as anything more than a very vague acquaintance) I really couldn't care less about.
Perhaps, Aaron, it's time you started paying attention to your critics. Maybe read something like this:

p.s. Clap Clap Riot are the worst band I've ever played with, and also [forking] dicks. And our set that night was longer than theirs.
