is f**k OK?

Don't understand how something works? We'll do our best to help.

This is just a question im not trying to mess with the cencorship or anything...but like are you allowed to do this "f**k"
or do we jsut write the word and then it will automatically be changed?

Questions like this should be asked in the 'i'm confused' section, so I'll split this to there...

Right, and the answer is...

I'd prefer you just write whatever you want and let the censor pick it up if it needs to. The things that will be considered a deliberate circumvention of the censor are things like spelling f**k with a v instead of a u or putting punctuation or bbcode or html inside the word so that the censor doesn't pick it up. I've conferred over the use of ** and it seems we're going to allow it, although it seems a bit strange to me.
The replacement words that the censor uses will change from time to time, so that should keep peopled guessing, i guess. Also, as has been suggested, people can reach for a dictionary or a thesaurus and strengthen their command of the language!

I hope that answers things!

I still love the distinction between [champion] and [american bottom]!

Might start using "anal sphincter" from now on...

Please don't change '[goats toenails]' - It's my absolute favourite substitute swearword!

Plus, I'm still trying to work out the word it replaces :)

This is totally off-topic, but I've been thinking about goats a bit recently - as you do - and I think the next band I'm in will be called Growing Throats.

(Properly, if you were to be pernicketty, it would be "Going Throats" but it's not as good).

Hell, I can't even remember what I wrote a week ago :)

The thread got revived (exhumed?) last night due to some commercial spammer using it and a couple of other threads to post links for their Nike shoes (or some such 'consumer' crap).

I think Blixa may have responded because he didn't notice the date, and thought it was a fresh thread.

Still, at least 'goats toenails' got a mention... And I agree with Evan that there's lots of neglected words out there that could be used, instead of the usual selection from George Carlin's list. There's quaint archaic expressions too, such as the rather steampunk "Damn your eyes , Sir!"

Yeah. Mea culpa
My apologies, Verity

Frakkin' 'A', thou craven flap-mouthed pignut! :)

(The online 'Shakespearean Insulter' has addded inches to my vocabulary, lol)

And now hopefully this thread can be re-interred
