Got a new band?? Need a gig??

Postby tommygunner on Mon Feb 13, 2012 8:22 pm

Hi,

I am looking for an opening act for "Reverberation 2012".

Usual story.....no-one wants to play first at 8.00pm.

"Reverberation" is held at The Dunedin Musicians Club.....6-8 bands covering various genres including surf, garage, pop, psych, indie etc....but discludes covers, metal and soloists.

Anyway, please contact me if you are keen {and keen to play early} and you think your band would fit in.

The Club has a superb PA, sound engineers and backline is all supplied....the date for this one is Saturday March 24th.

Cheers, Craig

Pretty good new word; way better than 'refudiate'.

Good to read there'll be a good mix of genres, but howsabout ya also disclude Blues bands? Reckon the Muso's club could handle at least one nite of cold turkey, lol.

Yeah....I'm always working on some new words Blixa!!

Nothing wrong with some blues influenced music though.....I should have said that "swampy blues", "dirty delta blues", anything influenced by artists on the "Fat Possum" label and Nick Cave is welcome to perform his "Abottoir Blues"....oh, and anything remotely rockabilly would be cool !! Endless jamming on 12-bar cycles will be avoided.

Link Wray's "Rumble"....now there's a challenge....11 and a half bars!!

Stevie Ray Vaughn playing in a redneck bar behind chicken wire....that would be awesome!! No wonder the man told Bowie where to go!! Bluesman triumphant over Starman.....there is some darn fine blues out there, don't be put off by the imitators.

Anyway, I think we have had this 12 bar discussion before.

We should discuss the Ancient Greek measurement of beauty....the "millihelen".

I still need an opening act for the gig!!

and...."it's a lonely Saturday night......!!"

Cheers, Cg.

ps Blixa, why don't you get out and play some music??

G'day,

Maybe I have missed the boat on this one, but my band Largo Lagrande (Timaru based) are really keen to come down for a gig.

We are an indie rock band, so far only played a gig up in Christchurch and are pretty keen to play Dunedin.

Flick me a PM if you still need another band.
